For Meera.

Because your writing is more beautiful, more heart-warming, more evocative, more wonderful than you think. Thank you for writing.

This is the link to her latest story-

Do read and comment there! 🙂

There lies a box of rosewood inside a chest full of memoirs. Carved and polished with excitement and yearning at the prospect of being able to store memories. Tutored by hands as old as time, the box was made and along with it.. a promise.

A promise that her most joyous, most precious memories would be preserved in it.. It was no place for sadness and she smiled and skipped away, not understanding the significance..

Shaped by a toddler inhabited by dreams far bigger than herself. Through changing colours and seasons, her box saw many additions. The polished surface harboring echoes of long ago moments, small trinkets, broken twigs shaped differently, lockets, charms, kite strings, glitter and so much more.. Ensconced in the softest silk, meticulously preserved, reverently cherished .. Seldom opened, yet, never forgotten..

Through the chaos and the stillness, through the sea of faces that swam past and the few that were her shore and anchor, she glimpsed something that vanished before she could figure out what it was..And through the years she was able to speculate at what it could have been.. Poised on the brink of womanhood, the veil lifted for a brief second and girlhood stole by, unseen, as she came close enough to know that what that elusive something looked like.. only for it to vaporize ..

A/N – This is the first to a three-part series I am working on. I will post the next part sometime next week or earlier if I manage to complete it any time before. Thanks for reading! 🙂

What shall I say that will do any justice to either the beauty of your words or the purity of the emotion with which you dedicate this to me! A part of me revels that someone with your skill at the writing table, thinks anything of what I attempt to do and the other worries endlessly at the prospect of being even a little short of what your kindness deserves.

Thank you – VintageInk – there is beauty in everything you do – the name you chose for yourself, this blog, the box of rosewood that holds your words and the simple grandiose of your generosity

    Thank you!

Thank you so much, Meera for reading and taking time to drop a comment. I will cherish this, always.

P.S. Has anybody ever told you, you over think things? 😀
